ABSTRACT
This
proposed research is an academic intensive study of some
hitherto unknown Thamudic inscriptions from al-Mrayghah area in the
South-Eastern Jordan.
Since the ancient
inscriptions are reliable sources reflecting different cultural
aspects of a geographical domain in a specific period, the intended
study will focus on an intensive analysis, on the historical,
social, economic, religious and linguistic issues of the Thamudians
which are emerging from the inscriptions.
It is expected that this research study
will figure out more information about the linguistic phenomena,
social and religious lives of the people who left these
inscriptions. In addition, new Thamudic personal names, Toponyms,
verbs, tribal names, and rock drawings and their indications will be
identified.
It is hoped also
that these findings could be useful
to other researchers, who are interested in the same field. In
addition these findings might
contribute to the wider study of the relationship between the
Thamudic culture and other surrounding cultures related to the same
period.

ABSTRACT
The research is focusing on studying and identifying the
main indicators of the urban life during the Early Bronze Age in the
Upper Wadi al-Zarqa. The study area has been chosen after the
results of the archaeological survey that took place in the Upper
Wadi al-Zarqa by an Italian team from Rome University from 1993
until 2002. The survey project covered an area of 144 km2
(12x12 km).
Several Early Bronze Age sites have been discovered in the survey
area which diverse from fortified towns (cities) to rural
sites (villages) and from large sites to small ones. Wad al-Zarqa
region was entering the urbanization process during the Early Bronze
Age II and III. The population grew during and after the period of
transition from Chalcolithic to Early Bronze Age in Jordan. This
increase would have been intimately connected with the change in
economy and would have had an important influence on the
modifications of the social structure. A consideration of the
question of population growth will be one of the important themes of
the research.
Such fundamental changes in economy, social structure and human
numbers would be reflected in the pattern of settlement. The
distribution of sites across the landscape and their nature would
depend upon all these factors. The internal arrangements of each
site might also be expected to reflect the social organization of
its inhabitants and the size of the group which lived on it.

ABSTRACT
To reach the goal of my research, I will study each statue
alone from different aspects: the first will be the elements of art,
its proportion, its situation, the techniques of producing used and
the traces of the tools appeared on the sculpture itself. All of
this will lead us to understand the styles and the schools the
Nabataean sculptors used, why he moved from one style to another,
and what makes him different than others.
