ABSTRACT
Romanised Jordanian Arabic is a newly emerging pidgin which is
extensively used by first generation emailers. This study ,
based on 35 messages sent by 15 undergraduate students , reveals
that notational formalism is only 50% systematically employed while
the other 50 % is variable ; for one Arabic character there can be
up to 4 corresponding Roman symbols . Conventional English spelling
contractions , and abbreviations have undergone drastic changes ,
most notable of which are the single-letter-for-word occurrences and
numerals for full words . The present study selects a second
striking area characteristics of RJA email messages , viz.
code-switching is has been found out that 60% of switches are from
English into RJA while only 40% are from RJA into English . The
latter mainly involve switches at clause boundary , being mostly
expressions of endearment and the name of God and , hence ,
functioning as discourse markers . Where a switch happens to be from
one clause in one code to another clause in the second code ,
code-switching turns out to be ‘code mixing’ , the function of
which is at best rhetorical . When switching is intrasentential ,
the grammars of English and Arabic match each other but with
noticeable word-order reversals .

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to show that the theme of
self-identity is a staple in Kate Chopin’s “Neg Creol,” “ Beyond the
Bayon,” and “ The Story of an Hour,” and that Chopin’s treatment of
this theme reflects her belief in the vitality of identity ,
uncovers the structures of oppression that impose certain
designations on victims, and raises a lot of questions about
institutions.
In support of my
argument, I intend to show the significance of proper names, proper
places, and property as markers of identity and social status which
the underprivileged are denied due to the oppression of power
structures that violate their rights, meaning to keep them running.
The discussion of
this theme demonstrates that identity is central to one’s existence,
superior to love, and worthy of being sought, regardless of the
difficulties created by power structures whose practices are called
into questions.

ABSTRACT
The proposed study lends itself to exploring
laloscopophobia from different dimensions and perspectives. It also
attempts to discuss the nature of this language phenomenon in terms
of background, definitions, labels, rank and symptoms. More
specifically, it seeks to investigate factors that cause public
speaking anxiety by second and third year students in a Linguistic
Study Skills course. A further goal is to demonstrate the various
strategies and key principles that might be utilized in order to
boost students’ confidence and combat public speaking fear. The
corpus of the study would consist of a reasonable number of students
( 50-60 ) in a Linguistic Study Skills course. Students will be
required to deliver topically varied presentations that constitute a
major component of the course requirements. These presentations will
be recorded, transcribed ,discussed and analyzed in order to attain
the required research objectives.
